Galena House Publishing is the press of Galena House, a literary house in the Colorado mountains. It publishes very few books, slowly, and makes them the way the house makes everything else: so that the way a thing is built is the way it is felt.
Its books are written at altitude, by lamplight, for the reader who stays up after everyone else has gone upstairs. Each one is printed to order and sent out into the world one copy at a time.

By post, always
The press takes its correspondence by letter, and only by letter. Publishing requests, manuscripts, rights, trade, review copies, suggestions for portraits and press all come through the same door: an envelope, to the address below. If Galena House sent you here, this is the door it meant.
Writers who would like the press to consider their work should send a letter first, and no manuscript until one is asked for. Letters are read in the order they arrive and answered by hand. The press publishes outside authors rarely, one at a time, and never to fill a list.
Rights in Galena House titles, including translation, audio and dramatic rights, are held by the press. Permission to quote beyond fair use is given by letter.
This page is set in Cormorant Garamond and Jost, on ivory, under the Galena House pressmark.
One day the house will keep a press of its own, iron and ink in a room with a window. Until then, its books are printed to order and sent out through Ingram, and its letters are answered by hand.
